Senator apologizes, finally

Senator Richard Durbin formally aplogized for the outrageous comments he made on the Senate floor last week.

It is about time!  In fact, in spite of his prior assertion, this was the first time he apologized  (well, sort of) - as opposed to what he claims was an apology Friday.

Sen. Durbin's choice of words last week was not an accident.  This was not an off-the-cuff comment, not an opportunity to speak at a party.  No, these were words he prepared in advanced and spoken from a prepared speech on the floor of the Senate.

In fact, however, he has only aplogized *if* you happened to be offended for his comments:

"I am sorry if anything that I said caused any offense or pain to those who have such bitter memories of the holocaust, the greatest moral tragedy of our time,"

Had the man had any real remorse, he would have apologized for the statements ON THEIR FACE.  I am curious to learn if anyone could actually claim to have NOT been offended by his earlier comments.

And don't get me started on Senator Voinovich's tear-filled plea on the Senate floor.   Yeah, that's the kind of face we want to present to the enemy.
