Don't Stare At The Nude People

This is just in from Rob at Say Anything to start your Wednesday:

"Some nudists in Canada are upset about a high-rise dormitory being built within eye-shot of their nude beach.

From The Associated Press:
If the University of British Columbia builds the 20-story residences, binoculars and Web cameras will soon be trained on Wreck Beach, ruining beachgoers' privacy, Wreck Beach Preservation Society protesters said.

'It's mean for the university to do,' said Stephanie Gibson, 12, who has been raised in the buff on the beach. 'I know they need more residences for the students, but they have to think of us.'
University Vice President Dennis Pavlich said Monday that the university will keep the group's concerns in mind when designing the buildings.

Maybe I'm too much of a puritan, but does it strike anybody else as odd that a 12 year old girl has been 'raised in the buff' on a nude beach?

Anyway, why exactly are these people upset. Their hobby is to get naked in public, why would they be upset by more people looking at them? They certainly don't have problems with posting nude pictures of themselves on the internet, what exactly do they think the students are going to do?"

Gotta agree with Rob on both points... while there is something to be said about beach goers NOT wanting a honking building put up right along the boardwalk, even that argument falls flat in the face of hotels built along any given stretch of beach in the world. Seems to me lil Stephanie has to learn to deal with the webcam potentials.
